The Reality & 30-Day Decision
Let us be honest about this

You are not lazy.
You are on your own.

Everybody procrastinates. That is not what separates the people who get things done from the people who keep meaning to.
Three things are true instead, and all 3 of them are fixable.

01 · The Knowledge Fallacy

You already know what to do.

You do not need another course, another book or another video. If somebody offered you $10,000 to make real progress on this thing by Friday you would know exactly what to do on Monday morning.

You would not need to research it. Information was never the problem and buying more of it has never once moved this.

02 · The Missing Structure

Nothing in your week makes it happen.

There is no deadline. No boss. Nobody waiting on it. Skipping it today costs you nothing, and skipping it tomorrow costs you nothing so it keeps not happening and nothing ever breaks.

That is not a flaw in your character. It is a missing structure and you have been blaming yourself for it for months.

03 · Isolation

And you are trying to do it alone.

The people who finish things are not tougher than you. They are surrounded. Somebody is expecting an update. Somebody knows what the next step is when they get stuck. Somebody notices when they go quiet.

You need the right people around you and you need direction and on your own you have neither which is exactly why this has not moved.

The Hidden Cost

And here is what it is actually costing you

It is not the thing. It is what the thing has started to say about you.

Every month it sits there unfinished, it quietly makes the same argument: that you are somebody who starts things and does not finish them. You know that is not true. You have finished harder things than this one. But the evidence has been stacking up on the wrong side for a while now and some of it is starting to look convincing.

That is the part 30 days actually fixes. Not because 30 days is magic but because 30 days of showing up in front of people who noticed is the only argument that beats it.
Wednesday 14th October

On day 30 one of these is true:

Option A

You did nothing

It is exactly where it is today. You are 30 days older. And you are on a page like this one again in the new year reading the same words wondering whether this time is the time.

Recommended
Option B

You took the spot

30 days of showing up, with 5 people who watched you do it. It might not be finished. It will not be where it is today and it will never again be the thing you never started.

Nobody has to promise you anything for one of those to be obviously better than the other.

The Experience

What you are joining

A challenge you cannot run on your own.

30 days. 1 goal. And 3 things you have never had while trying to do this alone. a plan built around what you actually want 5 people picked to keep you at it and somebody whose job it is to notice when you stop.

We build the plan. You bring the goal.

You have set your own targets before. That is how you ended up here with something either too big to keep up or too small to matter. We work out with you what 30 days should actually produce and what you do each day to get there.

Say your goal is getting back into training. We decide together what the daily thing is how long it takes and what the version looks like on the days you have nothing left in you. That last one is what people never build in and it is why they quit in week 2.

5 people, chosen. Not 500 at random.

A big community is a room where nobody notices you leave. Ricky and the team read what every member is doing and put together the 6 people they think will actually get each other over the line. Your absence is visible to 5 people by the same evening.

Your group is a private channel only the 6 of you can see. It runs on Discord, which is free works on your phone and takes a minute to set up. You get the invite the moment you reserve your spot.

We are in it with you for all 30 days.

Every member is read and spoken to. If the plan is not landing by week 2 we change it rather than let you grind at something that does not fit. If you go quiet somebody comes and finds you. Nothing free does that because nobody in it is responsible for you.

This is why there are only 100 spots. 100 people is 100 plans and roughly 17 groups, all built and read by a person. Take more than that and it stops being this and starts being a mailing list.

Examples

What people bring to it

Getting back into training after a year off
Finishing the course they already paid for
Starting the business they keep talking about
Reading again instead of never
Getting a new job
A year of avoided admin 1 folder at a time
The conversation that keeps getting moved to next week
The side project nobody has opened since spring

Starting counts as much as finishing. The 5 people beside you will be working on completely different things and they were chosen to suit yours.

The Process

How it works

What actually happens.

There is nothing to watch and nothing to fall behind on. You bring the goal. We build the plan around it and stay with you while you do it.

01 · STEP ONE

You tell us the thing

The one thing you have been putting off, whether that is starting it or finishing it. That is all you need to arrive with. You do not need a plan, a schedule or a first step worked out.

02 · STEP TWO

We build your plan

Before day 1 we work out with you what finishing looks like in 30 days and what your daily action should actually be. Then Ricky and the team place you in a group of 6, chosen by hand for what you are doing and who is likely to help you do it.

03 · STEP THREE

Commit → Do → Close

Every day you commit to your action, do it, and close out your day by posting the result to your group and us. Once a week the 6 of you get on a 20 minute voice call in your own channel, at a time your group agrees in week 1. If the plan is not working, we change it rather than leave you grinding at something that does not fit.

04 · STEP FOUR

You get to day 30

Every update you made is there, dated, in one place, so the days you showed up stay visible the whole way through. On Day 30 you count them, and compare where the thing is with where it was on the day you started.

Nobody has to design their own plan

This is the part that has failed people before. Left alone, most set themselves something either too big to sustain or too small to matter, and quit within a fortnight either way. We do that part with you, and we size it to your actual week rather than to your best week.

Every member is watched, not just hosted

We read the groups. If your updates stop, or if they carry on while nothing is actually moving, somebody comes and asks. A free group chat cannot do that, because nobody in it is responsible for you.

Your group is chosen, not filled

Being dropped in with 5 random strangers is how most of these die by week 2. Groups are built around what people are doing and who will be useful to whom, so the person next to you is there for a reason.

The Rules

Nobody gets to quietly disappear

A missed day is visible to 5 people the same evening, because a group of 6 is small enough that a gap is obvious. The first thing that happens is that somebody asks.

1 Grace Day Rule

You get 1 grace day: 1 day in the 30 where you post nothing at all, for any reason, with no penalty and nothing to explain. Miss a second day and you lose your place, which is the promise the programme makes to the other 5. Losing your place also ends the refund, because the refund needs you to still be on your team on Day 30.

Daily Routine

The daily loop

What a day actually looks like.

There is 1 action each day and it is the one we worked out with you. You say in the morning that you are doing it you do it and you tell your group and us how it went.

01 · MORNING

Commit

You say in your group what you are doing today. It is already decided, because it is in your plan so this takes seconds. It has to be specific enough that by the evening the answer is a straight yes or no.

02 · MIDDAY

Do it

The only part that takes real time. How long depends on the action in your plan and your plan is sized to a normal week rather than an ideal one so a bad day still has a version you can do.

03 · EVENING

Update us

You tell your group and us what actually happened including on the days it did not happen. That update is what we read. It is how we know whether your plan is working or needs changing and it is how 5 other people know you are still there.

Updating takes a couple of minutes. The action takes as long as your plan says it takes. We do not publish a figure for your total day because your plan is built around your goal and your week any number printed here would be a guess about somebody else’s life.

There are no modules and no lessons to keep up with. It is the same short routine every day for 30 days with 1 call a week and 1 grace day if you need it.

Day 1 & Day 30

On day 1 you say what you are going to finish. On day 30 you count what you actually did.

Every other day

Say it in the morning, do it update us in the evening.

1 Grace day

1 day in the 30 where you post nothing, for any reason. You choose when to use yours.

1 Call a week

20 minutes on a voice call with your group of 6.

The Psychology

Why it works

It was never willpower.

It was one of these 6. Every time this has stopped before, one of these was missing. You can usually supply 4 of them on your own. The last 2 are the ones that need other people, and they are the 2 that decide whether it survives a bad week.

An action small enough to do today

You cannot launch a business on a Tuesday evening. You can write one paragraph of the website copy.

A shape to the week that repeats

If it only happens when you feel like it it survives until the first genuinely busy week.

People who notice

Nobody in your life is waiting to hear whether you did it. So when you skip it, there is no cost and skipping gets easier.

Practical help when you are stuck

Being stuck is a different problem from being unmotivated. It needs an answer not encouragement.

A date it has to be judged by

Without a deadline “soon” is always available.

A cost to walking away

You paid you told 5 people what you were doing, and they are still there tomorrow. Quietly dropping it stops being free.

Target Audience

Who it is for

You know which one it is.

It arrived the moment you started reading. It is rarely dramatic. It is almost always something ordinary that has simply never been made to happen.

The one you have been about to start since before last Christmas.

A qualification you already paid for and never finished.

A portfolio a book or a showreel that has been almost ready for a year.

A conversation you have decided to have next week, every week for months.

A daily habit you have restarted so many times you have stopped telling anyone.

A project sitting in a folder you have stopped opening on purpose.

You have finished harder things than any of these. That is what makes it grate. The difference is that those things had a deadline or a boss or somebody waiting on the other end. This one has none of that and it never will unless you put it there on purpose.

Evaluation

This is for you if

  • There is one specific thing you have been putting off and you can name it.
  • You have started it before and it stopped when life got busy.
  • You can find a few minutes every day, including the bad days.
  • You are willing to be seen by 5 other people on the days you do nothing.
Exclusion

This is not for you if

  • You want a course to watch. There is nothing here to consume.
  • You want 10 things to change at once. You choose one thing here.
  • You would rather not be visible to anyone while you work on it.
  • What is in the way is something a professional should be helping you with.
Important Disclaimer

OVERDUE is a peer accountability programme not treatment of any kind. If what is in the way needs a doctor a therapist or another professional please start there. This can sit alongside real support. It does not replace it.

Community Structure

Who you are doing it with

5 people who see what you did today.

It all runs in one private Discord server. Your Accountability Team is a channel inside it that only the 6 of you can see. The Private OVERDUE Community is the rest of the server. You get both, and they do different jobs.

INCLUDED

Your Accountability Team

A private channel 6 people

Where the daily work happens. You post here in the morning and again in the evening and these are the people who see it the same day when you do not. Once a week the 6 of you meet for 20 minutes and answer the same 3 questions. 6 is small enough that a missing day has a name attached to it.

ALSO INCLUDED

The Private OVERDUE Community

The Discord server, every member

The rest of the server announcements the 4 live sessions and their recordings and the place finished work gets posted. Your team is the 5 people who see your day. The community is everyone else and it is where you go when a question is bigger than your team.

Team Dynamics

Inside a team

You are placed not left to it.

Nobody is dropped in with 5 strangers at random. Ricky and Taz build every team by hand before day 1. They read what each person is working on how big it is what stage they are at and who else is starting on the same day and they put together the 6 they think will work.

Someone who has done it before wherever we can place them

Where the group we are matching allows it we place somebody in each team who is further along with the kind of thing you are doing. Not somebody who has done OVERDUE before because nobody has: this is the first group. Somebody who has already done the thing you are starting. So when you get stuck in week 2 you have a person to ask instead of a search bar.

6 people assigned to you

You do not choose your team and your friends are not in it. Your friends will forgive you for missing a day. These 5 have no history with you and no reason to be that generous.

You cannot go missing for long

When someone goes quiet the other 5 see it that evening, and somebody asks. It is not a punishment. It is what gets the laptop open at 9pm on the night you had already decided not to bother.
